Located on the banks of the Nam Song River, next to a small wooden bridge, the Riverside Boutique Resort is the perfect luxury retreat in this gorgeous corner of the country.
Its rooms and suites, as well as the restaurant and bar, offer stunning views over the limestone mountains of Vang Vieng. This is a hotel that also showcases the very best of the cultural and natural diversity of Laos. Prominent artists and artisans have contributed their talent in order to showcase various aspects of the country’s beauty and traditions. The rooms, in particular, feature original decor inspired by eight ethnic groups: the Akha, Hmong, Katu, Lanten, Lao Lum, Tai Daeng, Tai Lue and Yao.
Thirty-four rooms with large balconies are located within the tranquil gardens. Each has a stylish and subtly different design that combines exotic wood and rattan furniture, soft furnishings reflecting the traditions of eight Lao ethnic groups, and authentic art and craftwork by local artists and artisans.
The entry-level rooms are called Classic Rooms and there are just four of these, which are the most secluded of the resort with individual balconies facing a small yard. These rooms are equipped with wooden furniture and exclusive fabrics and artefacts from the Tai Lue ethnic group.
The Deluxe Rooms have a balcony, either a river, mountain and/or swimming pool view. All rooms are luxuriously designed and equipped with wooden furniture and are located in five two-story buildings, each with a different theme and exclusive fabrics and artefacts that reflect the wealth and beauty of five different ethnic groups (Akha, Hmong, Katu, Lanten, Tai Lao).
Meanwhile, the two suites are about twice the size of the deluxe rooms, displaying exclusive fabrics and artefacts from the Tai Daeng and Yao ethnic groups. They each benefit from a private wrap-around balcony, facing the garden and swimming pool on one side, and the Nam Song river and Vang Vieng’s limestone mountains on the other side.
All rooms have generous-sized bathrooms with a bath and shower, whilst room amenities include a minibar, tea and coffee, flat screen television and air-conditioning.
Restaurant du Crabe d’Or, named after one of Vang Vieng’s most famous caves, offers indoor and outdoor seating to take full advantage of the river view and tropical garden with a magnificent backdrop of limestone mountains. The menu is a mix of Lao and western dishes and a special tasting menu can be ordered for those eager to try a variety of Lao cuisine. A ground level bar is open for lunch and drinks into the evening.
The centre of town is a ten-minute walk away and offers a choice of bars and restaurants. A small bamboo bridge next to the property leads to a quiet village on the western bank, which is ideal for exploring on foot or bicycle in your free time. An inviting swimming pool is at the heart of the resort and is the perfect place to relax between activities.
