Mashatu Main Camp is nestled in the northern Tuli Game Reserve of Botswana, bordering South Africa and offering a safari lovers ‘playground’ from horse-riding, walking and cycling in the reserve.
The main lodge area offers an oasis in the endless landscapes with a great view over the popular waterhole. There is space to relax and unwind or indulge in a drink by the bar or cool off by the swimming pool from the heat of the day. Meals are enjoyed in the Boma under the African night skies listening to the many sounds of the bush.
Mashatu Game Reserve is nicknamed the ‘land of the giants’ and rightly so – with its herds of elephants and the landscape dotted with ancient baobab trees. Space is open with big skies and a sense of freedom – and a diverse choice of safari experiences to enjoy this unique wilderness. At Mashatu it is all about experiencing the bush – up close and personal! Whilst the traditional game drives are offered in the mornings and evenings, you can also join your ranger on some cycling on the reserve – an experience offed by very few other game reserves and an amazing way to view the animals and explore the terrain.
Enjoy walks with your ranger learning about the smaller things of the bush as well as seeing the animals on a more ‘eye level’ perspective. Horse riding is also offered and this really gives a fantastic opportunity to get close to the animals.
Mashatu offer guests the opportunity to enjoy the unique photographic hides – these are sunken hides allowing a different perspective and great photographic opportunities – with photographic assistance.
Due to the remote location of Mashatu Game Reserve in the center of the proposed Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation area it is a true wilderness with a diversity of ecosystems and offering excellent predator as well as elephant and general game viewing opportunities. Birding is fantastic and there are many archaeological ruins dating back millions of years.
