Makweti Safari Lodge is an intimate, luxury game lodge in the Welgevonden Game Reserve, offering a big five, malaria free safari experience an easy 3 hour drive from Johannesburg.

There are only 5 individual thatch and stone suites, sleeping a maximum of only 10 guests at a time. All suites are free-standing for ultimate bush privacy and 3 of the suites have expansive decks with private plunge pools.
All of the suites do have private decks with en suite bathrooms with Victorian baths and outdoor shower.
The lodge is built on a spectacular site, overhanging the Makweti Gorge, offering uninterrupted views of the bushveld and of course animals. There is also a busy waterhole where animals come to drink allowing you great game viewing from the lodge itself.
Meals are enjoyed in the main part of the camp and in the outdoor boma for a real African experience. Makweti also boasts a wine cellar with some of South Africa's finest wines for you to enjoy. Meals are prepared from fresh produce and have a contemporary style, fine dining with an African flare. There is also a spa where you can enjoy massages for extra relaxation.
This is an intimate camp ideal for couples and honeymooners looking for an escape into the bush. Families with children over the age of 12 years are welcome.
The Welgevonden Game Reserve share a contiguous border with the Marakele National Park offering a total conservancy of 1110 000 hectares and forms part of the Waterberg Biosphere proclaimed by UNESCO and also a Natural Heritage Site. The varied and beautiful landscape offers some of Africa's most beautiful scenery.
There is a diversity of free roaming animals from the big five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as plains antelope, giraffe, zebra and over 250 bird species. The reserve is also home to smaller predators like jackal and a range of indigenous plantlife.
