The understated jewel in the Lion Sands crown. Here, hospitality is designed entirely around YOU and luxury is a feeling – much more than a sophisticated room in an exotic location.

They took their cue from Mother Nature to build a lodge ‘of the earth’, with natural materials that complement the surrounding bush environment and an open design that draws your attention outside. Décor is rich yet minimal, lighting is ambient, and African design accents subtly pick up on the safari theme.

Ivory Lodge awes with a natural and simple beauty, enhanced only by breathtaking river scenes.

There are eight spacious private villas and one 2-bedroom Family Villa. Each Villa sleeps two adults and is a peaceful refuge – with its own plunge pool and relaxation areas, including a dining/lounge area, furnished patio and viewing deck. A guest spa and fitness area is set away from the main lodge and Villas.

The Family Villa with two en-suite bedrooms, can sleep four adults and another two children, each on an extra single bed in their parents' rooms. All areas have been carefully designed to bring people together or to give those wanting privacy their own generous space. An open-plan living room (including kitchen, dining and lounge area) leads out to the patio, firepit, viewing deck, lap pool, and star jetty. Downstairs, away from the shared spaces, you'll find a personal spa/gym.

The Family Villa also comes with its own personal chef, field guide and safari vehicle.

The main lodge area offers wooden viewing decks and a 'River Island Deck' built on the river for optimum game spotting. Relax by the bar which has a fireplace for cooler evenings. Meals are enjoyed in either the indoor or outdoor boma (under-the-star dining). For those that want to keep fit, there is a health spa and gymnasium.

Lion Sands Ivory Lodge welcomes families with children over the age of 10 years old.

Guests staying at anyone one of the Lion Sands Reserve properties can spoil themselves to a unique outdoor 'sleep out' under the African stars in the Chalkley Treehouse. This is a secure and safe bush bedroom with all the comforts and luxuries possible from a mosquito net, mattress, linen, bedside table, toilet and bush vanity table. Built around an ancient Leadwood tree with beautiful views across the reserve. This experience is possible for a couple or single person only and would need to be pre-booked. There is also an extra charge for this once in a life time experience. Ask us for more details about the Chalkey Treehouse when making an enquiry with us.

The Lion Sands Reserve is 4 000 hectares of privately owned pristine bush within the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The land is family owned and been in the More family for 4 generations. The total size of land that is traversed for game viewing is 7000 hectares. Home to the big five (elephant, lion, rhino, leopard & buffalo) and the Sabi Sand Reserve having a reputation for excellent leopard sightings, you can also expect to see cheetah, hyena, jackal giraffe, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, impala and many more antelope species. The Sabi Sand Reserve has a diversity of bird and plant life and your ranger will share his knowledge of the bush with you.

Your stay includes early morning and late afternoon game drives. During your drive in the afternoon you can enjoy sundowners on the reserve and have a chance to really appreciate the sounds of the African bush.

Access to Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is possible with daily direct flights from Johannesburg into the Sabi Sands Private Reserve or alternatively you can combine a stay here with a self-drive of the greater Kruger area. We will gladly give you our advice on how best to use your time whilst on safari in South Africa and include a stay at this exclusive lodge.
