River lodge is a unique and luxury game lodge built on the banks of the Bushmans River in the big five, malaria free Kariega Private Game Reserve. Take in the magnificent views from the deck overhanging the river.

Nestled on the banks of the Bushmans River, this thatched lodge is unique in that it connects a Big 5 game reserve to the sea. Our optional daily boat cruises ferry our guests through the quaint village of Kenton-on-Sea to its picturesque and user friendly beaches. Inside the lodge guests can find a quiet spot in one of the lounges, page through a book in the library, relax at the pool or take in the view from the magnificent deck which overhangs the Bushmans River. Unique features include excellent river fishing and canoeing.

There are 10 spacious, air conditioned thatched suites. All rooms are en suite with double vanities and have private patios with views over the river and reserve. Facilities include a mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities.

The main area as a spacious lounge area with a wooden viewing deck that expands across the river. Relax by the pool or enjoy a sundowner at the bar. Dining is either in doors or outside at the boma under the African skies. Curl up with a book in the library or make use of the wireless internet to connect with the outside world.

Kariega River Lodge welcomes couples and families with children over the age of 10 years.

Your stay at Kariega Game Reserve includes all meals and two daily game drives. During your stay you can also enjoy a boat cruise on either the Bushmans or Kariega River.

Kariega Private Game Reserve is a proudly, family owned reserve and is home to the big five. Experienced game rangers will share their knowledge of the bush with you. You can expect to see elephant, lion, rhino, giraffe, zebra, warthog and a variety of antelope. The Kariega Game Reserve is located in a diverse landscape from rolling plains to bushy areas opening into open plains.

Nearby is the unspoilt beaches of Kenton On Sea where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Day safaris to the beaches are possible or you can extend your stay for a few nights extra to enjoy a real 'bush & beach' safari holiday.

Access to River Lodge is possible with daily flights from Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth.
It is an easy 1.5 hours drive to the reserve or you can sit back and enjoy a transfer.
