Ljubljana’s tallest and first five-star hotel adds a slice of international luxury to Slovenia’s capital
The lavish 165 en-suite rooms come in four categories – Superior, Deluxe, Club Rooms and Suites. All face the city, with the Suites having the best views. Most rooms have bathtubs as well as walk-in rain showers. Some also have desks. The décor is sleek dark wood, satin and marble. The 19th-floor Presidential Suite comes with its own steam room, living room and fireplace. Nespresso machines are in the Clubrooms and Suites; otherwise, you have a kettle and complimentary teas and instant coffee. All rooms have a television and air-conditioning.
The 18th-floor Saruna spa is a real delight, with an indoor pool, hot tub, steam room and two saunas. Daybeds are set up to make the most of the panoramic views. A fitness centre and yoga space are located on the same floor.
The 20th-floor B-Restaurant (named after Slovenia’s Carniolan honey bee) undoubtedly has some of the best food, and views, in the city. Managed by Michelin-starred chef, Alfredo Russo, and headed up by Komnen Bakić, the fine-dining menu is a combination of traditional Italian recipes and Slovenian ingredients. Dishes such as tortino di melanzane, steamed sea bass with olives, and layered honey cake are must-tries. Much of the wine is Slovenian, as it should be with such excellent vineyards on the doorstep. Breakfast is a choice of à la carte or a buffet of cereals, fruits, Slovenian cheese and meat.
Prešern Square is 1.3 km away, while Tivoli Park is at a distance of 700 m. The pedestrian area of Slovenska cesta, lined with shops and restaurants can be reached in just 300 m. The charming Ljubljana Old Town is 800 m away.
