Canyon Lodge consists of an old farmhouse with luscious green gardens which lead down to the stone chalets where guests will find comfort and relaxation as well as magnificent beauty throughout their stay.

Anticipation builds up as you turn off the main gravel road toward Canyon Lodge. The soft colours of apricot sand merging with the pale green of euphorbias is a prelude to the loveliness of the lodge surrounds.

As you turn a final bend, the lodge comes into view. Nestled between rounded granite boulders, Canyon Lodge's quaint century-old farmhouse reception, verdant garden and cool pond invite and welcome you into the enchanted enclave.

The neighing of horses from the paddocks follows you down a lane to the stone chalets, through a green tapestry of grass kept well-watered by the recycling plant and dotted with camelthorn trees. The path continues to a swimming pool and the wild and beautiful expanse of the Gondwana Canyon Park.
Feel the freedom of the north-western corner of Namibia, one of Africa’s last wildernesses, a refuge for black rhino and lion, and home to the famous desert elephant that follow the ephemeral rivers spanning the land like arteries of life. The hustle and bustle of daily living dissipates here as you entertain a slower rhythm of life. In the Kaokoveld extremes, where wildlife wanders freely, the infinite dome of blue sky holds sway during the day, and at night, the brilliance of the night sky takes the stage.

The lodge offers guests a choice between standard twin rooms, standard triple rooms and standard family rooms. All the rooms use the natural granite rocks against which they lie as part of their design, making for some unique and wildly beautiful shapes. All the rooms have an en-suite bathroom with showers, except for one of the family rooms which comes with a bath and a shower. All rooms are also air-conditioned to ensure you stay cool and refreshed during the warm summer afternoons.

The main area of Canyon Lodge consists of the old farmhouse which houses the reception area and a well-stocked curio shop. Here guests will also find a large restaurant, where guests can sit at individual tables, or gather around the bar area for a bit of socialising. These main areas are dotted with a few open fireplaces to ensure that things remain warm and cosy during the cooler winter evenings. Outside the main building is a veranda with tables and chairs all laid out under shady trees, where guests can sit and enjoy the views. Leading fown from the main area and past the chalets is a swimming pool with sun loungers and some of the most spectacular views for guests to enjoy.

Guests staying at Canyon Lodge can embark on a number of activities in the area, all of which can be organised by the lodge itself. These include a sunrise walk or morning hike or a sundowner drive or walk around the area. Guests are also encouraged to go on a drive to the Fish River Canyon, where they can take the time to explore the area.

This is the ideal accommodation option for couples and families wishing to explore the Fish River Canyon from a unique and charming lodge. Speak to us about how to include a stay here in your Namibian holiday!
