An oceanfront boutique hotel near Kuching at the base of a mountain, this is a rare gem in Sarawak.
Cove 55 has only 13 rooms, 13 suites, and 2 villas, making it one of the few true boutique hotels in Borneo. Garden rooms can sleep two and sit on the ground level, each with a private patio and outdoor seating. Balcony rooms are one level up and offer spectacular sunrise views from the private balconies. Please note that in both room types, no extra beds are available as these rooms are designed for two adults only.
The Corner and Balcony Suites can each sleep two adults and two children or three adults with the use of a sleeper sofa in addition to the king-sized bed. These spacious suites are on the first floor and boast panoramic views of the mountain and sea. For a couple or small family looking for something special, the Sea View Villa offers the privacy of a stand-alone villa. As with the Suites, it can sleep 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
Mangrove Villas are available in one or two-bedroom options. These are nestled within the vibrant greens of the grounds and offer large outdoor space to enjoy the environment. One-bedroom units have either a set of twin beds or a king bed plus sofa bed. Two villas can be reserved as inter-connecting villas.
Ocean Pool Villas are similar to the Mangrove Villas in terms of sleeping options and offer a private pool along with views directly over the South China Sea. All villas have an open plan design with a spacious seating area and bedroom.
Kechala offers seasonal dishes with locally-sourced produce and Sarawakian flavours along with international dishes to satisfy an array of tastes. In the evenings, a daily Iban menu is available. These dishes have been selected and the kitchen team trained by the culinary expert of the owner’s Tun Jugah Foundation (a local foundation dedicated to preserving Iban history and culture). Cove Bar sits beside the infinity pool with a variety of drinks on offer.
Guests of the hotel have exclusive access to a 9-hole golf course in the jungle with transfers, clubs, and a caddy provided. The course will be reserved solely for one foursome at a time and is a truly unique course given the jungle terrain and thick foliage.
Cove 55 is located approximately 45-minutes drive from Kuching airport, about 35 minutes north of the riverfront heart of the city. Free transfers to a nearby beach are available.
