Your Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Marrakech

Your driver will greet you at Marrakech airport and escort you directly to your Riad. This is a quick 15-minute transfer, and a leisurely 5-minute walk through the medina to Dar Rocmarra.

Marrakech boasts a variety of charming riads; but for this journey, enjoy beautiful Dar Rocmarra, nestled in the heart of the souks and conveniently located within walking distance to all major attractions.

Ancient fes medina

Day 2 - Explore the Medina

Immerse yourself in the delights of Marrakech.

Begin your day with an early visit to the serene Majorelle Gardens, avoiding the afternoon heat and incoming tourist crowds. Dedicate your afternoon to exploring the city’s array of mosques and historical landmarks. Don’t miss out on the opportunity for self-pampering with a traditional Moroccan exfoliation and massage at a local hammam.

As evening falls, the main square comes alive, offering a spectacle not to be overlooked. Meander through the maze of snake charmers, storytellers, and henna artists. Cap off your night by retreating to a rooftop bar, where you can unwind with a chilled glass of wine and watch the vibrant scene below.

Day 3 - To Kasbah Africa in the Azzaden Valley

Departing from the gorgeous ‘Red City’, you will travel into the lofty valleys of the High Atlas Mountains.

On your way to the Atlas, stop over at the bustling town of Asni, teeming with activity as local Berbers endeavor to vend their produce and wares (with Saturday being market day—a day that offers an especially fascinating visit).

The journey’s final leg to Kasbah Africa meanders along a serpentine road that climbs through the verdant Azzaden Valley for 3 km.

This afternoon, allow yourself ample time to immerse in the Kasbah’s awe-inspiring natural surroundings.

Savor tea beneath the willow trees, do a spot of birdwatching (the area is home to over 150 native bird species), and seek out the typically elusive ‘Sanglier’—the wild black pig—within the Takerkhort Wildlife Reserve.

In the Spring, Autumn, and Summer months, there’s always an opportunity for a refreshing swim and relaxation in a hammock. During Winter, cozy up beside your personal log fire or in the snug ambiance of the lounge bar.

A mere 15-minute walk away lies Torort village. Here, approximately 70 families reside in earthen adobe dwellings perched above the Azzaden river.

Day 4 - A Day With The Berbers

Go on an adventure through the Azzaden Valley to immerse yourself in the authentic Berber lifestyle.

Your excursion will lead you to the village of Tassa Ouirgane, where you’ll gain insights into local farming practices and the daily life within a small community of approximately 40 families.

During your visit, witness a traditional bread-making demonstration and taste organic olive oil, along with wild thyme, lavender, and delectable organic honey produced in the area.

Back at Kasbah Africa, enjoy a relaxed lunch under the willow trees, complemented by the stunning backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.

Day 5 - Cooking With Berbers or A Day Walk In Ouirgane

Today, you have the option to select an included activity – cooking or walking! Moroccan cuisine is captivating, visually appealing, and features delicately spiced, subtle blends of flavors with fresh ingredients that are delightful to taste. At Kasbah Africa, you can learn to prepare traditional Moroccan dishes in the comfort of your accommodation, guided by Kasbah Africa’s expert local chef. Alternatively, embark on a day walk through the scenic Ouirgane Valley, led by an experienced local Berber guide. Various trails are available, ranging from a 1-hour stroll to a full-day hike, tailored to your fitness level and interests. A picnic lunch is provided.

Optional activities include Mule or Camel Trekking, Spa & Hammam treatments, visiting Tin Mal Mosque, or exploring Toubkal National Park.

If you’re considering an extended stay, you might prefer to simply unwind and savour the gardens, abundant nature, and glorious vistas at Kasbah Africa.

Otherwise, there are numerous activities to enjoy. Take a ride on an Atlas mule; these sure-footed and typically gentle creatures are integral to Berber daily life.

If mules don’t appeal to you, perhaps a camel ride will? There’s no need to venture all the way to the Sahara – a camel trail is available in nearby Moulay Brahim.

The Tin Mal Mosque is a fascinating half-day trip destination in the Atlas Mountains, offering a journey through picturesque Berber villages and dramatic landscapes en route to the lofty Tizi n’Test pass.

For unparalleled views of Mount Toubkal (weather permitting), head to the bustling trekking hub of Imlil and hike to Aremd village.

Day 6 - Transfer back to Marrakech. The escape is over!

It is only 90 minutes back to the airport, so there’s no need to rush.  Your driver will arrive in plenty of time to head down through the passes and back home.

A great mix of Marrakech madness and the peace of the mountains, in under a week.
