Committed to preserving the waters and resources of Gaya Island, Gayana Marine Resort is a luxurious, marine-friendly choice only a 15-minute boat ride from Kota Kinabalu.

All villas are generously sized and tastefully decorated with big balconies. Lagoon Villas look out over the resort while Mangrove Villas are tucked away in the mangroves and offer direct water access from the balcony. Larger Rainforest Villas face the tropical forest and rolling hills of Gaya Island. Ocean Villas look out over the South China Sea and have steps from the balcony straight into the water. The decadent Palm Villa has a private plunge pool, steps leading into the sea, a glass floored sitting area for views of the water below, and sumptuous decor. This large villa has two inside sitting areas in addition to the spacious balcony with sun loungers and a table perfect for breakfast for two.

Echo Wellness Spa offers a full array of treatments, most with ocean views. Macac Restaurant serves Western fusion with a Malaysian twist while Latitude Bar is an ideal spot for a sundowner, high above the South China Sea.

An onsite dive centre caters to divers of all levels including those wishing to try it for the first time or become certified divers. MERC, the Marine Ecology Research Centre, offers a unique glimpse into the work of marine preservation. Among other projects, the Centre has a Giant Clam Restocking Programme and visitors can see a variety of these beautiful clams. Guests can participate in replanting coral and learn about the various initiatives from the Centre's staff.
