Simple accommodation for those wishing to watch turtle hatchlings head out to sea in the moonlight.
Accommodation is simple with two twin beds in all rooms and en-suite facilities. Rooms are air conditioned and meals are included. The beach is lovely to relax on or snorkel from and you'll have ample time to do so as turtle activities occur in the evening. Snorkeling gear can be hired.
Selingan Island's turtle conservation programme began in 1927 with a turtle hatchery added in 1966. Today, when sea turtles lay eggs on the island, rangers collect and count them, ensuring they are protected from predators. More than 600,000 turtle eggs are collected on Selingan each year. When the turtles hatch, they are again counted and then released into the sea. The use of a camera flash is strictly prohibited to prevent disorienting the turtles.
Fleewinter can only book a stay at Selingan as part of a package holiday in Borneo. Please consult FCO guidance on travel to this region.
