There are 12 Luxury Suites and 8 Luxury Superior Suites, all with their own private wooden viewing deck overlooking the Sabi River and linked to the main lodge by wooden walkways. The bathrooms are en suite with indoor and outdoor showers and double vanities. The bedroom is air conditioned with an overhead fan and mosquito netting. All rooms have a mini bar, safe and television. The bedroom leads out onto a wooden deck that overlooks the reserve.

The main lodge area has a comfortable lounge and bar area with a fire place for cooler evenings. There is also an outdoor safari lounge and wooden viewing deck overlooking the Sabie River. Guests have a choice of 2 swimming pools to cool off in summer and during the winter months the pools are heated.

Watch birds from the bird hide or relax in the afternoon on the River Island Deck that has been built on the river. Dinners are enjoyed indoors or outside under the African sky at the boma. Those wanting to keep fit whilst on safari can make use of the gymnasium or indulge in a spa treatment.

Lion Sands River Lodge welcomes couples and families with children over the age of 10 years old. Staff will make you feel at home and the lodge offers a relaxed atmosphere.

Guests staying at anyone one of the Lion Sands Reserve properties can spoil themselves to a unique outdoor 'sleep out' under the African stars in the Chalkley Treehouse. This is a secure and safe bush bedroom with all the comforts and luxuries possible from a mosquito net, mattress, linen, bedside table, toilet and bush vanity table. Built around an ancient Leadwood tree with beautiful views across the reserve. This experience is possible for a couple or single person only and would need to be pre-booked. The Lion Sands Reserve is 4 000 hectares of privately owned pristine bush within the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. The land is family owned and been in the More family for 4 generations. The total size of land that is traversed for game viewing is 7000 hectares. Home to the big five (elephant, lion, rhino, leopard & buffalo) and the Sabi Sand Reserve having a reputation for excellent leopard sightings, you can also expect to see cheetah, hyena, jackal giraffe, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, impala and many more antelope species. The Sabi Sand Reserve has a diversity of bird and plant life and your ranger will share his knowledge of the bush with you.

Your stay includes early morning and late afternoon game drives. During your drive in the afternoon you can enjoy sundowners on the reserve and have a chance to really appreciate the sounds of the African bush.

Access to Lion Sands River Lodge is possible with daily direct flights from Johannesburg into the Sabi Sands Private Reserve or alternatively you can combine a stay here with a self-drive of the greater Kruger area.
