Accommodation is offered in the historical country house or in Shearers Lodge. The country house offers 5 spacious en suite bedrooms which include 2 family suites. Shearers offers 4 en suite bedrooms (3 twin and one honeymoon suite) which is set away from the main house with a low roofed veranda overlooking the swimming pool.

Leeuwenbosch Country House is steeped in history and decorated with antiques and various memorabilia dating to the 1800's.

There is a home away from home feel and the homestead has been in the Fowlds family for 5 generations - enjoy a dink in the cosy walled cellar pub or high tea on the shady veranda. Or take a quiet moment in the 19th century stone chapel. Relax by the pool or read a book in the garden.

A typical stay at Leeuwenbosch Country House includes all meals, two daily game activities and accommodaiton. Game drives are usually between 3-4 hours, depending on sightings. Enjoy refreshments in the bush during your game drive to stretch the legs and quench your thirsts (in a safe open area away from predators).

Returning from a morning game drive guests can relax before a scrumptious brunch and then either relax by the swimming pool, or take a cruise on the Bushmans River (optional extra).

Other activities from the lodge include historical and cultural sight-seeing, visit to the nearby beaches (20 minutes), golf (1 hour from lodge), shopping & theatre (30-40 minutes), or just relaxing and unwinding in tranquil bush surrounds.

The Amakhala game reserve is home to the Big Five; namely, white rhino, Cape buffalo, elephant, lion and leopard. In addition to these 'prize sightings', guests can also expect to see cheetah, giraffe, black wildebeest, zebra, serval, a variety of 12 different antelope species and if lucky even the elusive aardwolf. This just mentioning the highlights! An abundance of birdlife (250 recorded species) including the African Fish Eagle, Crowned Eagle and Jackal Buzzard.

Leeuwenbosch Country House offers a lovely stay and big five experience for couples, and families who are looking for a home away from home safari experience.

Access is easy by either direct flights from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban to Port Elizabeth, or can be added onto the end of any Garden Route holiday.
