"This hotel was next level. It was totally perfect! The villa was just unbelievable and they really do think of your every whim. It was definitely worth it for our honeymoon." - Gemma H, April 2019

"Excellent hotel. Our butler Vee tended to all our needs and spoiled us. Enjoyed the last days here and we were not ready to go home." - Jon E, March 2019

"Six Senses was amazing. All the staff knew your name by the end of your first day. Lovely villas and picture perfect setting." - Katherine H, April 2016.

This is the stuff that dreams are made of. A perfect crescent of private beach with a backdrop of dramatic mountains, the Con Dao islands jut out of the water, as though cast adrift from the main land. It is the island that time forgot - an area of outstanding beauty with crystal clear waters, soaring cliffs and hardly any development.

And the Six Senses Resort does the almost impossible job of mirroring the natural beauty of the island. It boasts 50 wood-panelled eco villas, all of which have their own private pools, with a sea view. Beautifully decorated in scented linens, floor to ceiling windows, the villas also have heavenly bathrooms with big tubs and outdoor showers.

The villas are arranged in two rows looking down onto the resort's private beach - the ones at the back (Ocean View Duplex Pool Villas) are the cheapest - but offer wonderful big balconies upstairs with tremendous views. They are split-level with a massive bedroom upstairs and an equally large bathroom downstairs. Out front there's a chill-out area and a small but enticing plunge pool.

There are also a few larger villas in this back row: Ocean View 4-Bedroom Villas and Ocean Front 2- and 3-Bedroom Villas, all of which are stunning. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and the villas also have living spaces, a kitchen and a plunge pool outside. The Ocean Fronts also have a lap pool, making them the ideal choice for families and groups of friends.

The front row of villas are on the edge of the beach. Half of these are split-level (Ocean Front Duplex Pool Villa ), but a few are slightly smaller single-storey buildings (Ocean Front Deluxe Pool Villa), which are essentially the same design but arranged over one floor so better if you?re with young children.

The resort has a fabulous restaurant called By the Beach where tables spill out onto the open-air deck. It offers a mouth-watering selection of Vietnamese food as well as plenty of European options. Delicious, its Tuscan-style deli, serves light lunches, salads, sandwiches and snacks, to eat in or take away; and there is also a funky little bar with an extensive drinks menu.

Aside from relaxing on this stunning tropical island and enjoying the private beach and infinity pool, there are plenty of activities on offer. Kayaking and snorkelling is great here and there is a splendid spa on site.

Six Senses also has an activities centre where you can book windsurfing, sailing, diving, squid fishing, day trips and motorbike hire. They can also arrange tours of the island, which although small, is fascinating and explores the remains of the prisons (for 113 years, this island was home to one of the country's harshest prison systems, built by the French and later used by both sides in the Vietnam War), as well as the colourful market and harbour of the ocean.

You can also explore the national park with your guide, motorbike to the remote lighthouse and spectacular lagoon or snorkel and scuba dive beside turtles.
