This small, boutique hotel is in the historical area of Bukhara, close to Zindan, and only 200 metres from Lyabi-Khauz – a fantastic place to chill-out around the central pond in the evenings and soak up the atmosphere. Chor-Bakr necropolis is only a 20-minute drive away and it’s a 15-minute walk to reach Ark Fortress. Many of the city’s hotels are tucked down tiny streets in the Old Quarter – but Hotel Basilic is closer to the main road, so you can easily transport your luggage from a car to the front door of this comfortable hotel.

This two-storey hotel has 18 rooms, all centred around a courtyard with tables and tapchans, creating a summer café vibe. Each room is soundproofed and you’ll find a comfortable bed, air-conditioning, TV with satellite channels, microwave, minibar, coffee machine and traditional furniture. Bathrooms are bright and feature a shower, and a selection of rooms have a bathtub. They have a classic style, with bright flashes of colour and traditional Uzbek design to give you a flavour of your surroundings.

The facilities are simple but the atmosphere here is really homely. It’s a great place to relax after exploring the city.
