The Uzboy Hotel is a two-star retreat in the district of Dashoguz in northern Turkmenistan. While the town itself is industrial and sprawling, it serves as a handy jumping off point for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kunya-Urgench and the ancient settlement ruins of Butentau.

Uzboy Hotel is a white-tiled building with 26 guest rooms across two floors. The rooms are simple and spacious, with high ceilings and lots of natural light coming in, and each one has air-conditioning, a television and hairdryer. The rooms span off a central lobby atrium where you’ll find comfortable lounge chairs to relax after a day out exploring the historic sites.

If you fancy a dip, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool. There’s a small bar and restaurant that offers local, as well as international, cuisine, including a typical Turkmen buffet breakfast served here each morning of boiled eggs, bread, cold meats and cheeses. You’ll also find a shop selling local souvenirs and Turkmen crafts.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel as a small extra cost. There’s also a laundry service and 24-hour room service.
