"One of the most beautiful hotels I have seen or stayed in.The room was comfortable- beds were a slice of heaven. The addition of the phone that we were given for our stay was helpful- as was the access to the boat for river travel." - KZ, Jan 2020 "Wonderfully luxurious; huge rooms, great breakfasts." - JB, Feb 2019

This 39-room urban luxury retreat is a stunning work of art located in Bangkok’s Royal Dusit district and an extraordinarily unique hotel.

The owner Krissada Sukosol Clapp had inherited 3 acres of verdant frontage along the city side of the Chao Phraya River which he found to be the perfect spot to build a hotel which would at the same time house his substantial collection of antiques. He brought Bill Bensley, the globally acclaimed architect and interior designer, on board, a fact that can be perceived in every detail of the hotel. The overall setting reflects the period of Bangkok’s greatest grandeur, under King Rama V, with Art Deco accents and hand crafted exquisite furnishings. A muted colour scheme of black, white, cream, grey and neutrals has been combined with natural textures such as wood, weave, leather and stone and precious antique pieces can be found at every turn.

The project is a new build, yet it features four historic, century-old Thai teakwood houses brought downriver from the ancient capital of Ayutthaya by former owner Connie Mangskau and her silk tycoon friend, Jim Thompson. Three of these have been turned into a signature Thai restaurant and cooking school while one has been refurbished as a unique pool villa.

The Rooms
The Siam features 39 of the capital's most spacious suites and pool villas as well as a uniquely historical Thai House, Connie’s Cottage. All rooms are outfitted with plush furnishings, super-sized king beds and lofty ceilings. Each of the 28 Suites embraces a unique theme: from local architecture to beauty queens, music to military, diplomats to contemporary art while every public and private space highlights Thai life and culture through the ages, giving guests an intriguing talking point.

For absolute privacy, retreat to an intimate Pool Villa and bask in Thai Colonial, Chinese or Art Deco surrounds. Every villa is awash with lush internal gardens and features a private swimming pool and open-air roof terrace, perfect for secluded sunbathing, evening cocktails or tête-à-tête dining. Four Riverview Pool Villas stand in prime position on the riverfront. One pair of adjoining villas is perfect for families or friends.

Each room is catered for by a personal butler, upon request, complimentary WiFi is available property-wide, and guests may borrow a mobile phone with data and global calling for the duration of the stay.

The Facilities
Guests have an array of amenities at their fingertips: restaurants, cooking school, bar, café, Opium Spa, gym, yoga terrace, Muay Thai boxing ring, beauty salon, library/cinema, a tranquil pool with river views, antiques gallery, conservatory and traditional Thai houses. The resort also has its own private pier and luxurious speed boat, of course following the art deco scheme of the hotel, taking hotel guests quickly to wherever along the river in Bangkok they want to go.
