You wouldn't think it once inside, but Tamarind Village is located at the heart of Chiang Mai's old town. It is like an oasis hidden amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel is conveniently situated fifteen minutes from the airport, train station and bus terminal.

The hotel is set round a series of internal courtyards, with interlinking verandas and distinctive heavily sloped Lanna roofs. Because of the courtyards and small clusters of buildings the hotel feels very intimate, but it is actually deceptively large.

The Rooms
The hotel has 41 guest rooms and 5 suites. They are each furnished with antiques and softened by tribal fabrics and patterns from the region. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, TV, minibar and a wall-mounted air-conditioning.

The 21 Lanna Rooms are small but carefully considered (25 sqm). There are king-sized doubles or twin rooms available in this room category. The en-suite bathrooms have showers.

The 20 Lanna Deluxe Rooms are slightly larger at (30 sqm). There are king-sized doubles or twin rooms available in this room category and the rooms come with an outdoor sitting area. The en-suite bathrooms have showers.

The 2 Lanna Suites (46 sqm) are located on the first and second floor levels and are comprised of separate living and sleeping areas. Perfect for couples looking for additional space or as a family option, the suites are decorated with regional artifacts and bold fabrics that reflect Chiang Mai's tribal influences and rich craft traditions. The spacious marble tiled bathroom offers both a shower and a bathtub and double vanities for extra comfort and convenience.

The 2 Tamarind Suites (50 sqm) are absolutely beautiful and spacious enough to accommodate to extra beds making it ideal for families. They would also be perfect for honeymoon couples. The rooms have their own indoor living area with TV and DVD, outdoor seating area and bath tubs in the en-suite bathrooms. The decoration is lovely. Very traditional, but somehow light and fresh at the same time.

The Tamarind Spa Suite (60 sqm) is equally beautiful with loads of outdoor space and a private terrace and sunbed for relaxing outdoors. It comes with a marble bath with separate tub and outdoor shower.

The Facilities
In addition to the rooms Tamarind Village has a very attractive lobby area that is used as a lounge come evening. This overlooks the swimming pool which measuring 7.65 by 17.60 meters and is 1.65 meters deep. The pool is surrounded by a walled garden full of tropical plants and flowers.

The hotel also has a spa, a boutique, a concierge and travel desk, car rental, laundry, dry cleaning and babysitting services. The Village Spa is open daily from 10:00 - 22:00hrs and offers a carefully chosen selection of blissful massage and treatments. It is a serene sanctuary for guests to relax and be pampered in perfect tranquility.

The Ruen Tamarind Restaurant provides indoor or open-air dining on the swimming pool terrace and offers a variety of mouth watering Thai and International dishes. The menu also offers a selection of authentic Northern Thai dishes prepared in the kitchen from original family recipes. Breakfast and lunch are also served at Ruen Tamarind. The food at the restaurant is exceptionally good.

There are hundreds of other great restaurants to also try around the city.

Tamarind Village is just ten minutes from the famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar and within a five to ten minute walk from Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh, the Lanna Architectural Museum, the Three Kings Monument and several other important temples and historic sites like the Tha-Pae Gate, Wat Umong Mahatherachan and Wat Phan On. Each week, Chiang Mai's lovely "Sunday Walking Street" takes place just in front of the hotel.
