"We had a fantastic time. A very different experience- much more rugged and off the beaten path. The owner was very kind and his cooking is superb- some of the best food we had all trip. The highlight was going to The Red Lotus Sea- which was breathtaking. It was worth the trip to Udon Thani just for that." - KZ, Jan 2020

This gem of a villa is located in Isaan, a rural area in northeastern Thailand, close to the borders to Laos and Cambodia. If you want to learn more about Thai traditions and the daily way of life in a beautiful rural area, this is the right place for you. The owners of the villa care about their community and want to encourage more visitors to discover Isaan and to experience Thai village life. As a former chef, the owner takes great pride in introducing his guests to Thai and especially local cuisine. As such, a private cooking class is part of the experience you may request at Green Gecko.

The villa, featuring two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, is set among flowers and tropical trees, sugar cane, eucalyptus and other plants home to the area. It comes with a private saltwater swimming pool, a wooden deck, a Thai Sala (a sheltered but open-air relaxation area) and a personal chef preparing delicious Thai dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The air-conditioned bedrooms feature elegant four poster beds (one Queen and one King sized bed), crafted in teak. The master bedroom leads out to an exterior garden with a large rain shower.

The house is serviced each day. To staff look after cooking, cleaning and even laundry. During the Thai cooking, you will be accompanied to the local markets, where you can find all ingredients to make a variety of traditional Thai and Northeastern dishes.

Others things to do: Visit the Ban Chiang archaeological museum, explore the local waterfalls and the lake, visit a local school and encourage the children to practice their English skills (if you do have an old laptop you no longer use, or other articles that the school could use, any donation would be highly appreciated), discover the Nong Han listed wetlands with their water buffaloes, help out in the rice fields, located in close proximity to the house, experience local festivals and traditional rites, visit the village temples and give alms to the monks in the early mornings, enjoy a Thai massage, take a Muay Thai lesson, cycle around the village and countryside and gaze at the stars which seem to shine brighter here than anywhere else in Thailand.

The minimum stay is 2 nights. If you stay four nights or longer, please ask us for a available offers.

The rate includes free airport transfers, the entire house and private pool, all meals prepared by a personal chef, bottled water, and local assistance (including complimentary maid and laundry services.), Internet as well as a good supply of cold beer.
