"The decor is not going to set you on fire, however the rooms are clean and spacious and the hotel staff very accommodating. I overslept breakfast by an hour and so a member of staff kindly bought a selection on a tray to our chalet - without me even asking - impressively considerate! Over all a great stay."

Just minutes from the airport, this resort has attracted international airline crew and passengers alike for many years. It is just 35km from Colombo and, with its good accommodation and extensive facilities, it also attracts more long-term guests.

Set in 13.5 acres of rich gardens, filled with lush green lawns and palms, the Tamarind Tree Resort offers 36 luxury bungalows, 23 deluxe rooms and two luxury suites, all of which are air-conditioned and have a minibar, a 32 channel satellite television and an IDD phone. The deluxe bungalows have a private sitting room, pantry, dining area and a spacious bedroom. The superior suites have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious sitting room and dining area. There is also a well equipped kitchen with microwave and fridge.

There are two restaurants and a bar at the resort. The Pavilion provides a popular lunch spot with a la carte and set menus to choose from while the Garden Cafe boasts a skylight roof, serving an array of buffet meals for breakfast and dinner. The Pitstop bar, with its comfortable seating and a relaxed atmosphere, is the ideal destination for a post-dinner cocktail or two.

The hotel boasts an outdoor swimming pool as well as tennis courts, a gym and a games room for billiards and snooker. A number of excursions can also be organised. Guests can travel along the coast to see the historic Dutch buildings at Negombo or take the longer four-hour trip to Kalpitiya to visit its impressive Dutch fort, go whale and dolphin watching or fishing.

The Tamarind Tree Resort also offers conference packages.
