There are only 3 tents ensuring that there will only ever be 6 people in camp at a time. The tents are crisp white 1900's style safari tents fitted with military campaign style furnishings and there is even en suite bathroom with a toilet and bucket style shower (hot water).

The central boma is where you can relax, read a book enjoying the sounds of the birds and other animals in the bush. Meals are prepared on open fire and you can be sure to enjoy many tasty traditional meals under the African night skies.

Your safaris are a combination of driving in the landrover as well as walking safaris which is one of the only camps/lodges in the area that offers this. All safari activities are conducted in big five territory and you will not only be traversing the Amakhala Game Reserve but also the reknown Shamwari Game Reserve as Quartermains Camp has an exclusive arrangement to conduct safaris on this concession as well due to them being neighbours (game drives on Shamwari for 2 night or longer stays). There is also some non big five areas where you can walk and learn interesting bush facts.

During your stay you will have a very good chance of seeing not only the big five (lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and the elusive leopard) but also a variety of other predators from cheetahs to hyena and jackal as well as plains antelope, zebra and giraffe. Bird viewing is also excellent in the area.

The whole experience at Quatermains Camp is to 'revive' the 1900 heyday safari of the explorers of the time whilst still allowing for some modern 'creature comforts' and the focus being on enjoying the bush and all the wonders if has to offer from the animals, birds and vegetation.

Being owner run, the camp is a hands on experience and your ranger and team will ensure that you have a memorable big game safari experience.

Quartermains Camps welcomes couples and families with children over the age of 12 years. Ideally this can be included into a holiday exploring the Garden Route or compliment a longer Cape Town stay.
