El Albergue has been a popular stay among Machu Picchu explorers for the past 40 years, given its privileged location for access to transportation, but the place has proven to be a destination in itself lead by its charming owner Wendy, an American that has adopted the Sacred Valley as her home.

There are 7 categories of rooms available: Triple Standard, Double Standard, King Standard, Double Plus, Garden Superior, Balcony Superior and Albergue Casita. All rooms are equipped with heating and styled with rustic dark wooden beams, regional artwork and natural fabrics. All rooms have bathrooms with showers, free WiFi and include a complimentary half-hour free access to the hotel sauna.
Triple Standard rooms are 20m2 and have 3 single beds. Double Standard rooms are 12m2 and are fitted with a queen-size bed and a single bed. King Standard rooms are 12 m2 and fitted with a king-size bed.
Double Plus rooms are are 20 m2 and feature a mountain view, are fitted with a queen-size bed and a single bed and has a bathtub and shower, this rooms are located in a building further away from the train station and offer a private balcony.
Garden Superior rooms and Superior rooms are similar but located in the building closest to the station, Garden rooms are located on the ground floor and Balcony in the upper floor.
Albergue La Casita is the largest accommodation in the property and is perfect for families who desire extra space, features two bedrooms and an en-suite bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds. Nestled into the back of the property surrounded by gardens, it’s equipped with a private kitchen and dining area.

El Albergue restaurant offers all meals and its supplied by the owner’s own organic farm and offers and international fare, it is well known for its generous breakfasts and american brownies. Cafe Mayu is located on the train platform and offers home toasted coffee, home spirits made in the owner’s distillery and more little perks of the kind. Upon request, guests may order a traditional pit “Pachamanca” lunch that is to die for.

The property facilities also include lush gardens with hammocks, shared balconies fitted with comfortable seating and an outstanding eucalyptus sauna. There are excursions offered to the organic farm, coffee roaster and the distillery.

El Albergue is located in Ollantaytambo, right next to the train station and just one stop away from Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu pueblo), just 30 km away. Velasco Astete Airport is 95 km away.
