Maison MK is situated in the affluent heart of Marrakech, only two minutes walk from the vibrant central square with its fire eaters, jugglers, snake charmers, and ancient story tellers. The whole house is curved, organic and tactile with the walls curving into floors and ceilings. Even the round pool seamlessly merges into the circular banquette seating areas. The result of the clean lines and light aesthetics is an ethereal interior that creates a serene and soothing haven in a bustling city. Stunning decor, chilled vibe, chic accessories, friendly and discreet service ( intentionally overstaffed!) all in all a very hip home from home!

Location, location, location! maison mk is centrally situated with beautiful rooftop views of the Koutobia mosque and the Atlas mountains. Just 12 minutes taxi ride from the airport (included in the room price), close to the main avenue and its parks, easy access from your taxi to the riad, and just a 5 minutes taxi ride to the new town area with its shops and cafes....and yet...it is only 3 minutes walk from the vibrant central square with its fire eaters, jugglers, snake charmers, and ancient story tellers.

The historical Riad features just six extravagant bedrooms: 1 huge master suite and 5 stunning bedrooms with ensuite facilities. Flowing silk organza voiles drape from the windows and doors and rose petals scattered on the beds create a de-stressing and decadent ambience. The handmade mattresses sit on a polished plaster plinth that is lit from below and behind by long rope lights giving the impression that the bed is literally floating on air. Dramatic silk chiffon artwork of sultry and exotic Moroccan faces forms the graphic design element of the huge polished plaster headboards. All but one of the bedrooms have deep cast iron roll top baths, encased in a rounded pod to lull guests into complete relaxation.

The sunken lounge comes into its own in the evening with its glowing fire and resident 'david farrer' camel head sculpture looking down on you. Chill here with the best cigars, digestifs and shisha pipe. Each bedroom houses a pre-loaded iPod with chilled ambient music, or you can dock your own i-pod. There is a pre-programmed mobile phone, curved of course, with all the essential numbers encouraging you to go and get lost - part of the fun of the souks.

Your maison mk manager is on hand to advise on shopping, sightseeing, dining, clubbing, and even offers chaperoned evening taxis so you can hop from place to place and then home to sleep.

The huge Maison MK roof is divided into three levels. The lower deck is used for sunbathing during the day, and in the evening it is transformed into a sexy lounge area with a coctail bar. Alternatively guests may choose to unwind in the Arabic tent that provides the perfect backdrop to the sounds of the bustling Medina. The upper level is used for serving breakfast and lunch. There is also a stylish copper fire pit where a glowing olive log fire is lit...smells. Over the top of the patio, huge curved swathes of orange silk flutter overhead lit by pools of soft light. The final, highest point, for the best views and lounge seating for two, is the terrace where Jamie Oliver filmed his "Jamie does Marrakesh" TV programme.

Food lovers are well catered for at maison mk with the highly experienced chef creating a French / Moroccan fusion of signature dishes. Breakfast is a relaxed affair with a mixture of freshly baked pastries, Moroccan pancakes, melt in the mouth scrambled eggs, Moroccan soups, fresh juices and fruit etc served whenever, wherever. At lunchtime guests can choose from a light salad, a BBQ or a full meal or may prefer to wait for the complimentary afternoon treat - a delicious home baked cake served with fresh Moroccan mint tea. gastro mk is not to be missed - dinner starts with canapes on the atmospheric roof terrace under the stars, followed by a sumptuous five course tasting menu served in the dining rooms. Be sure to reserve the curtained off 1001 nights table for a private dining experience. If you decide to do a little cooking when you go home, don't forget to book one of the cooking courses at the riad and learn with the experts how to make your own Moroccan lunch!

If you want to pamper to the last minute, you can nip out to the neighbouring shops for candles, pompoms, jewellery, spices, kif kif's one-off bags and children's clothes, or simply load up on the exquisite mk in-house gifts.
