Intimate and Romantic

One of our favorite properties, The Oberoi is an intimate, romantic retreat ideal for those who want to sneak away into a tranquil oasis and indulge in award-winning service, breathtaking sunsets and the finest cuisine.

The property rests on thirty-five acres of pristinely landscaped gardens along the serene Turtle Bay, with scenic views across the lagoon of panorama mountains surrounding and the the capital, Port Louis, and Grand Baie (15km away). The resort feels peaceful, private and vast with terracotta paths leading through perfectly manicured green lawns with stunning ocean views encouraging you to reconnect with nature at every turn. There are botanical gardens throughout the property with weekly visits from a botanist to guide you through and teach you about all the beautiful plants and flowers.

Its unique architectural style combines African, Asian and European elements via a thatch roof concept and large striking stone carvings from Indonesia dotted throughout the property. It’s a perfect depict of the fascinating hybrid nature of the island itself. The tranquil grounds are ideal for adults and couples, however the resort welcomes families and offers a small children’s club.

A wide array of activities for guests designed to refresh and rejuvenate the mind, body and soul including cooking classes, stargazing nights, henna, trips to local temples, rum tasting, botanical garden classes- the concept is to get people engaged in the local culture.

We especially love the adult only ornate infinity pool that overlooks the tranquil sea- where you can relax with an afternoon tropical cocktail. The beach directly in front is a bit rocky but just a short walk will lead you to the main pool and the delightful beach swimming area with privately spaced lounge chairs along the white sand beach.

The Rooms
Each of the 71 rooms offer ultimate privacy and unique rustic-chic decor comprised of natural cane furniture, a romantic four-poster bed, wall-to-wall windows and affluent sunken marble bathtubs set under traditional thatched, weatherproof roofs. The rooms are feel spacious, light and airy with the high-peaked, white beamed ceilings. The beds are decked with comfy down bedding and intricately decorative throws and there is a large closet with massive amounts of storage space. Forty-five of the Luxury Villas have lush garden views and 12 have private pools and a romantic dining area on the terrace. Each villa has a sofa bed which can hold two children (under 12 years).

The Facilities
There are two à la carte restaurants and three bars, one poolside where you can enjoy undisturbed sunset views and nightly nightly soft live music from saxophone, piano and acoustic guitar. The restaurants are open and airy and boast panoramic views of the vast Indian sea . They offer a delicious mix of European, oriental and Creole dishes in a setting of hushed tones surrounded by nature, and a romantic private table overlooking an ornamental pool.
