Simple rooms in a historical building up a gentle hill in Kuching with many family-sized rooms and a fun restaurant in a converted warehouse.
There are multiple room types at The Marian including the six Chapel Wing rooms. These are located beside the swimming pool, each with a terrace and vintage furniture. In the main building are the family-friendly Betty Johnson rooms with a queen bed on a mezzanine level and a queen or king bed on the main floor. Similarly, Thelma Cook rooms comfortably sleep four. These suites have either two connecting rooms with queen beds or are divided into a main and mezzanine level. In these, a queen bed sits on the upper level while two single beds or a queen sit below. Ladders can be a bit steep in these rooms. Mary Sharp rooms are ideal for two people with one queen or two single beds.
For those seeking a bit more space and privacy, the two-bedroom St. Nicholas Apartment has its own lounge, pantry, and two single beds in each of the bedrooms. This unique space built around what was an air well, was once used as a boarding school for young children. All rooms are simply decorated with a black and white theme and many are named for women who played unique roles in the history of St. Mary's Boarding House.
Kantin at The Granary is located down hill from The Marian in a former warehouse. A variety of western cuisine is offered and on weekends, evenings are lively with local musicians taking the stage. The Marian Gift Gallery sells a carefully curated mix of handmade souvenirs, arts, crafts, and jewelry in a fun, brick-walled shop.
Please note there is no lift and stairs are common throughout the property. The hotel encourages guests to eat out for breakfast as there are countless great local options nearby. Only a very simple breakfast is provided.
