A complete restoration of 19th-century terrace houses, the hotel maintains the feel of an opulent Penang home with rooms lining a large open courtyard, once a series of air wells. Guest rooms are handsomely outfitted with antique fittings and furnishings, salvaged wood floors, luxurious fabrics, gilded cabinets, and subtle modern touches such as Bluetooth speakers and USB charging points.
Duplex rooms have a spacious seating area on one level and bedroom on the other. In some, entry is onto the bedroom and full bathroom with the seating area upstairs. In others, the design is flipped with a sitting area and full bathroom on the entry level and a king-sized bed and half bath upstairs. A day bed can be converted for the use of one additional guest. Two apartments can accommodate larger families. The Stewart Apartment opens onto a sitting area and king bed with steps down to a long room with two single beds. Each area has its own bathroom. This room also contains a complete set of Peranakan bridal furniture, truly a sight to behold. The larger Argus Apartment is a duplex. Doors open to a lounge leading to a bedroom with two single beds and a full bathroom. Upstairs you'll find the master suite and an oversized balcony.
Afternoon tea is served poolside daily with a selection of Nyonya cakes and other local treats. An open air library and lounge on the ground floor provides a shady place to relax, perhaps with an evening cocktail from Baba Bar. Kebaya Dining Room offers a refined menu of Nyonya classics with innovative twists inspired by Thai, Vietnamese, and French techniques.
Seven Terraces is located within the centre of George Town's historic district behind the Goddess of Mercy Temple and near Little India. The city's highlights including countless restaurants and shops are within easy walking distance. Penang International Airport is approximately a 40-minute drive.
Absolutely no smoking is permitted on the grounds of Seven Terraces and children must be at least 7 years of age to stay.
