Authentic Bush Camp

There are only 5 en suite tents with views across the wilderness. Some are located a little closer to each other for familes with older children, although all of them can comfortably sleep three people. There is also a family tent for families with younger children. Each tent is built on a platform with a private veranda and there is an en suite bathroom which is partially open to the skies. There is hot and cold running water as well.

The large mess tent is the central area with a dining room, sitting room and small library. The outside veranda is on an open wooden deck and is the main gathering point. Meals are enjoyed outside as much as possible, and private meals for couples or families are also possible.

There is 240 volt solar power in the rooms and a charging area in the mess tent for camera batteries. There is very limited signal in parts of the camp – strong enough to collect emails, but erratic enough that it does not be disturbed by the outside world.

Laikipia Wilderness offers a great experience for those looking for an authentic bush camp, in a pristine wilderness area. Being an intimate camp, the days activities can be planned around you and your hosts will chat with you about what is possible to do.

Activities range from walking safaris, game drives and night drives, rock climbing, swimming in the rivers as well as tubing and fishing in the rivers. For birding enthusiasts there are some great species and for those looking for some culture its possible to visit one of the nearby Samburu villages. For longer stays its possible to do fly camping under the stars.

The area has a great variety of free roaming game including herds of elephants, giraffe, hippo, Grevy’s zebra, leopard, wild dog, lion, hyenas, aardvark & aardwolf and over 280 species of birds! There are also antelope. The lodge works closely with the Laikipia Predator Project collecting data from collared wild dog and lions and guests area able to participate in this.

Laikipia Wilderness Camp is a great place to get back to nature, enjoy knowledgeable hosts who will share their passion for the wilderness and her animals with you. Whilst the camp is more traditional and basic, it is comfortable, the food is wholesome and you should not be lacking for any needs.

This is ideal for both couples and families who want to get back to the wilderness, and the Laikipia region of Kenya is one of the perfect places to do this!
