Recently renovated, this beautiful ryokan keeps its traditional aesthetics and offers an authentic Japanese experience with highly comfortable rooms and excellent service offering western breakfast

23 Bedrooms, Sleeps 46

Recently renovated, Oyado Koto No Yume ryokan offers excellent service and hospitality in a truly authentic traditional atmosphere.

It is very conveniently located just a few steps away from the train station and approximately between 15-20 minutes by foot from the old traditional neighbourhood and morning markets in Takayama.

Unique to this hotel is its charismatic and cosy lobby, where complementary herbal teas are available from early evening. Soak up the charming atmosphere while you read a book and sip on relaxing cup of tea.

Outdoor and indoor cypress and granite hot spring baths are available for guests to soak in and relax both the body and the mind while taking in the views of the surrounding nature. There is also a private bath for guests to rent in you wish to enjoy the onsen experience in the company of your partner or family only.

There are six different room types with both Japanese and western-style beds available. Every room is unique, designed with a different theme related to Japanese culture. All the rooms have a cosy and charming authentic atmosphere, as well as plenty of amenities to help you relax and feel at home such as a heater, a tea selection and coffee machine, sleepers, yukata (housecoat) that can be worn inside the ryokan and when strolling outside etc. The most simple rooms do not have a bathroom or shower in the room but they do have a private toilet.

If you are not sure about the Japanese style of sleeping on a futon on the tatami mat, we recommend considering the twin room option or the suite. Both are very spacious, beautifully decorated in traditional ryokan style with a combination of modern western elements such as a sofa and western-style beds. They have a private toilet and bathroom with bathtub, so you will still live a true ryokan experience without compromising on western comfort.

There are two breakfast options for all tastes and preferences: western-style and Japanese. Both are carefully prepared with fresh and local products from the Hida region.
