Marari Beach is a village-style resort that despite its size feels extremely tranquil. There are 62 thatched cottages set amongst 36 acres, located right on the beach, separated from the ocean only by large palm trees. Windy paths separate the cottages making you feel like you have plenty of space, with lotus ponds, fruit trees and palm trees throughout the grounds. With a strong emphasis on the environment no trees were cut down to create the resort, and rainwater is harvested and local materials are used throughout.

The 62 cottages have been designed to look like the landscape around it, with traditional wooden shutters and raised verandahs to resemble a fisherman’s hut. Inside however they are extremely comfortable and modern, with crisp white linen and pastel decorations. There are 49 Garden Villa’s which have a seating area, bedroom, private veranda and a bathroom which is open to the sky. 10 Garden Pool Villas have an additional plunge pool, whilst the 3 Deluxe Pool Villas come with a larger pool within a garden, a separate living room and two bathrooms.

You are also spoilt for choice when it comes to your dining experience at Marari Beach Resort. There is a large restaurant which serves an international buffet at all three mealtimes including daily cooked bread, fresh seafood from local fishermen, as well as spices and vegetables from the resort’s organic farm. If you choose to eat here you can also enjoy Keralan live music every evening.

Alternatively there is the Beach Grill which is open between October and April for lunch and dinner. You need to book ahead to eat here. For light snacks or pre-dinner cocktails there is the Beach Shack and Palm Bar. Finally you may want to learn some of the amazing dishes that are cooked in Kerala with a daily cooking demonstration at 6.30pm, including recipes printed off for you to take home with you.

The hotel offers plenty of activities for guests who wish to explore, and a wonderful pool and spa for those wishing to just simply relax. Guests ca enjoy daily yoga sessions, hire bicycles to explore the surrounding villages and countryside or stroll along the coast and watch the fishermen at work.
