Fosshotel Myvatn was built in 2017 by award-winning architects who designed a contemporary hotel which has been crafted from almost entirely sustainable materials, has wonderful views over the lava fields and offers the perfect place from which to explore the north of Iceland

The hotel has 92 rooms which are simple and contemporary in style with Satelite TV, small refrigerator, free WiFi and a private bathroom with a shower or a tub.The suites are spacious, inspired by the surrounding landscape and offer almost panoramic views.

The restaurant is led by Chef Geir Brynjólfsson and offers fine Nordic cuisine using the highest quality local ingredients from farmers and fishermen in North Iceland. Floor to ceiling glass windows convey a spectacular view over the lava fields and lake.

The building itself features a larch wood clad exterior and grass roof which complement the surroundings. Nearly all the materials used have an environmentally low impact and the hotel itself has a very low carbon footprint.

Spend your days hiking up craters and hills, past gurgling hot springs, exploring plate trenches and hot pool caves, dog-sledding or snowmobiling past volcanoes and then relax with a glass of wine by the open fire in the lounge or in the sauna.
