Latitude 10 is a luxurious and intimate beach retreat which has rooms designed in a Balinese style, lit with candles and hidden within the exotic gardens.

There are just 5 casitas which are hidden within the jungle and were built ensuring not a single tree was cut down to build them. Each is designed as a small colonial plantation house with folding doors and secluded porches. Inside the beds are canopy style and are covered with mosquito nets and Balinese textiles making a romantic feel. The Master Suites have kingsize beds and the Junior Suites queensize. The Master Suites also have a lounge area with 2 days beds and a dining table so perfect for families. Do note none of the rooms can be made into a twin.

There isn’t any air-conditioning in the rooms, but all sides of the casitas are open allowing in ocean breezes. Each room has an open-sky bathroom which is open to the element but completely private. The contemporary showers have good power and always hot with natural and biodegradable toiletries.

For meals that are mainly served on the terrace outside. The breakfast is brilliant with fruits and a freshly cooked breakfast of your choice. We would recommend the traditional Costa Rican favourite of rice and beans. Lunches and dinners are prepared by the local chef and can make most things you could fancy. When you are eating lunch or dinner it feels relaxed but exclusive. Alternatively, you can head to Florbanca for a more modern setting next door, or into Santa Teresa or Malpais for a good selection of local restaurants.

There is a beautiful swimming pool here amongst the trees as well as private yoga classes and a top spa next door which guests are welcome to use. As you are on one of the best surf beaches you may want to catch some waves and there are surf and boogie boards to borrow as well as the option for lessons which the stall will organise.

Children are welcome and day beds can be made up in the rooms to accommodate them, but it is really a hotel for the more grown-up – up market.
