Chayote Lodge is in the coffee growing culture of the region just 50 minutes from San Jose airport and 1500 metres above sea level in the cloud forest. There are just twelve rooms here and they all have a private terrace with views of Barva, Poas and Irazu volcanoes as well as the Central Valley.

All of the twelve rooms here are the same category and are called Recibidor Suites as they are built to resemble the traditional Coffee Receiving Stations known locally as 'Recibidores'. All are very spacious with 535sq feet of space with a king size bed, sofa, blankets, wifi, hot water and balcony.

The Quelites Restaurant which is located at the highest point of the property has beautiful views which you can enjoy from inside with floor to ceiling windows. There is also a café outside the main dining room for an 'alfresco' breakfast, lunch or afternoon coffee. Whilst there is a large focus on coffee the food is also fantastic and is prepared with fresh local ingredients, some from the properties own garden, which means the menu changes with the seasons.

Chayote Lodge is a great base for a couple of nights at the beginning or the end of your trip as it is close to the airport whilst still being a huge highlight of anyone's visit to Costa Rica. There are plenty of activities to do here from short hikes to the El Chayote Forest Reserve, home to huge amounts of wildlife including 150 bird species. A permanent nature and ornithologist tour guide is part of the team at the lodge and will be pleased to take you around.

Additionally you may want to; visit a local coffee plantation, explore Naranjo city, VISIT Poas Volcano or Juan Castro National Park, the birdwatching tour, hike to Toro Amarillo Waterfall or for the adrenaline junkies, zip lining.
