This is the place to stay if you want to feel like an opera star for a night or two. The decor is dazzling yet tasteful and the bathrooms feel more like a pre-show make up parlor then a hotel en-suite.

Opened in 2011, Hotel de l'Opera is a fabulous addition to Hanoi's hotel scene, offering something completely unique and memorable. The hotel lobby cum bar is a treat - an airy space filled with chaise longues, stylish furniture and funky finishing touches, it is the perfect place to wind down after a day in the hectic streets outside.

The hotel boasts four classes of rooms; the deluxe, grand deluxe, suite and deluxe suite. All are exquisitely furnished with heavy, dark wooden floors, creative rugs that resemble the turtles found in Hoan Kiem lake, which is just beside the hotel, spacious mosaic tiled marble bathrooms and huge, comfortable beds with feather toppers on the mattress.

The grand deluxe are slightly larger than the deluxe, while the suites are larger still with bath tubs, a generous lounge area and complimentary evening cocktails and canap?s between 5pm and 7pm. The grand suite is the largest available room with a separate lounge/dining and balcony - it also includes a private butler service as well as canap?s and cocktails in the evening.

The hotel has three dining options, as well as La Fee Verte, an ambient bar with an ultra-contemporary design. Cafe Lautrec offers a la carte and buffet Meditteranen dishes throughout the day, while Satine has a rich menu of signature Vietnamese dishes from the north to the south. Cafe Lautrec Deli serves healthy and tasty takeaway salads and sandwiches, coffee, cakes, pastries and croissants and La Fee Verte.

The hotel has an indoor swimming pool that steps out onto a sun deck with views over Hanoi, offering something for both winter and summer months. It also has a well equipped fitness centre available exclusively for guests.

Set in the centre of Hanoi, Hotel de l'Opera is close to Hanoi's Opera House, the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake.

Our tips: This hotel is in a quieter location than those in the centre of the city's Old Quarter, while still being very central. All the rooms are beautiful and the deluxe rooms are just as stunning as the suites on offer. No corners are cut here...
