This family-run hotel is tucked away in the old Jewish quarter and is home to some of the best houses in Bukhara. Many of them, including Sasha & Son, are now welcoming guests. Step inside and you’ll see ornate stairs, plants and huge clay jugs. The two-storey building offers 20 guest rooms decorated in a traditional Bukhara style, with paintings, clay ornaments and ganch carvings that look like an intricate lace design. Many are the work of well-known craftsmen and painters from Uzbekistan who have adorned the stunning and vivid walls. The rooms each have air-conditioning, a minibar and satellite TV.

The hotel has a charming and quiet courtyard with a tiled floor, and seating areas for you to relax during a late sunny afternoon. It is overlooked by the ‘ayvan’, which is an Uzbek colonnaded terrace, creating a real sanctuary in the heart of the city. There is also a restaurant and a bar for a welcoming meal during your stay.
