Bibi-Khanum Hotel is a small traditional hotel with a great location, hidden away down a quiet street in the old Jewish quarter of Bukhara. The hotel is around three minutes’ walk from the architectural gem of Lyabi Hauz, with its stunning buildings and cafes surrounding a central pond. In the evening, this is the heart of the ancient city.
The hotel has eight rooms, each with a unique design. Compared with many other hotels in the city, there is real beauty and colour in each room, giving you a true essence of an Uzbekistan home. One is adorned with frescoes from the city of Afrosiyab in Samarkand; another with colourful glazed pottery taking inspiration from Nadir Divan Begi madrasah, which overlooks Lyabi-Hauz. Each room features air-conditioning, a TV and a bathroom; and you can expect attentive and warm hospitality from your hosts during your stay.
In the morning, there is a choice of meats, pancakes, breads and jams for breakfast in the small dining room, setting you up for exploring the city. In the evening, head to the hotel’s outdoor yard and terrace, where you can sip tea and lounge on a traditional tapchan – a bed come table – while watching the stars come out in the night sky.
