Ayazkala Yurt Camp is a basic yurt camp near to the ruins of Ayaz Kala fortress complex in Karakalpakstan. The three fortresses stand on a hilltop overlooking the Kyzylkum Desert and date between the 4th Century BC and the 7th Century AD. You’ll stay in a yurt, a round tent traditionally used by nomadic people, and this will be an incredible experience in the wild, camping under a sky full of stars.

The yurts can sleep between two and 20 people each and the site is picturesque in the steppes, with a view of the Sultanuaizdaga ridges on one side and the Ayaz-kul lake on the other. During your stay, you can ride a camel, explore the ancient ruins of Ayaz-Kala and watch the sunset while listening to the melodic songs from the local musicians who regularly visit.

Inside the yurts, you can sleep on a thick cotton mattress under blankets; and there are copper jugs with water and a stove for washing. There are two toilets and shower rooms not far from the yurts; and a separate yurt is used as a dining room, where you can spend evenings chatting to other guests and your hosts. Location-wise, the camp is around 18 miles from the town of Buston and 50 miles from Urgench, home to the international airport and railway station.
