This basic yurt camp is located among the sand dunes in the Kyzylkum Desert, around six miles from Aydarkul Lake. There are 26 yurts here, each decorated with handmade carpets and felt rugs, known as sherdaks; and inside there is a real colourful collection of craftmanship adding to the beautiful lattice design of the yurt’s structure.

The campsite has electricity, toilets, showers and a communal yurt where you can dine on the national dish, Beshbarmak, or salad, fruit and oriental sweets. During your time in this remote area, you can take a tour by camel or horse, taking advantage of the slower pace to see how many of the region’s 25 species of plants and animals you can spot. There’s also the option to explore the desert by foot or ride the rolling dunes in a 4x4, as well as joining a fishing trip.

In the evening, you can sit around the campfire under a sky full of stars and listen to local folk singers, called akyns, sing their melodies. With no light pollution, the Milky Way can often be seen in the night sky during one of these special evenings.

Getting a taste of the nomadic life is guaranteed at Aidar Yurt Camp.
