Step back in time in the tiny village of Damla, home to the Turkmen tribes of Yomud and Teke. Set deep in Turkmenistan's sun-scorched Karakum Desert, this secluded village is a place to experience the nomadic way of life.

Getting to your homestay will feel like a thrilling adventure in itself, as you’ll be driven across a challenging terrain of sand dunes and marshes to reach it – just like a traditional Silk Road traveller. After this five-hour off-road journey, you’ll arrive in the faraway lands of Damla, where only around 60 flat-roofed homes and yurts dwell. Throughout your stay, you’ll be looked after by a local Turkmen family who’ll help you embrace the simple and wholesome nomadic lifestyle.
