Fleewinter

This was one of the first hotels in Sirkeci area, an atmospheric corner between historic Sultanahmet and the busy waterfront. You can walk easily to the many sights that pull tourists to Sultanahmet but you'll find quieter and calmer streets. The Hagia Sophia, for example, is only around 5 minutes away. Access to the tram is also close, if you want to head further afield.

The building itself is a traditional style mansion house with wood detailing. There are less than 40 rooms, and we'd describe it as homely and welcoming rather than grand. However, there is a spa with therapy rooms, small fitness room, hammam and small swimming pool, all adding a touch of luxury.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and beautifully finished, and even the standard rooms are a good option although quite compact. Bathrooms are tiled from floor to ceiling, and many have baths as well as showers. There are some great family options, including triple rooms and a good interconnecting option for larger families. Several rooms have little French balconies with views into Gülhane Park, a nice spot to enjoy your morning coffee (There’s a kettle in your room with tea and coffee).

There is a small bar-restaurant at the rear of the lobby called Red River, ideal for a quick meal, a coffee and a cake or a drink after a busy day sightseeing. There is also a rooftop terrace where they usually serve breakfast in the morning.
