This beautiful hotel was built in the 1800's as a school and hospital and has since been lovingly restored and renovated. Most recently, in 2005, it was refurbished and took the shape you see today, of a historic boutique hotel offering premium service. The hotel has a traditional style inside the rooms, with lots of dark wood and deep colours, but the restaurant and terrace are a bit lighter and more modern.
The hotel is elevated above the heart of the old town Sultanahmet with views over the Hagia Sophia and the square. You can walk to all the main sights easily. The front desk is open and manned 24 hours a day, and the helpful team are always willing to help with some advice and directions.
There are just 50 rooms, all smoke free. As a rule, rooms can be small within the city centre. We recommend the Premium Sultan Rooms, which are a little larger than the standard rooms and offer the best views, or the suite categories. These are larger again, with spacious bathrooms and some have balconies. All rooms are well equipped.
The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining options (weather permitting). A good breakfast buffet is included with your stay, and the Matbah restaurant serves delicious Turkish cuisine with a nod to the Ottoman era for lunch and in the evenings.
