Tobago has lots of 3 bedroom villas and here is our selection. Don’t forget that you don’t have to take all the rooms as most of these villas offer reduced rates if you do not use all the bedrooms. It is always worth enquiring.
The area of Bacolet is a quiet enclave located near to the bustling capital Scarborough. The Bacolet Beach club and the Half Moon Blue hotels are located here. Bacolet Beach is good for body surfing and you can get a simple lunch there from the Bluehaven Hotel Beach cafe. The locals play beach football on Sundays which is great fun to watch.
Speyside is a quiet village right in the north of Tobago. This is where the best diving is in Tobago but there is also great snorkelling especially on Batteaux reef just off Blue Waters Inn Hotel. A 20 minute local boat ride away is the uninhabited 450 acre island of Little Tobago (also known as Bird of Paradise Island). Here there are opportunities to hike up to the top (200 feet) for stunning views and to watch the birdlife and especially the red-billed tropicbirds wheeling around the cliffs.
Situated on the Caribbean side of Tobago, Englishman's Bay is a totally unspoilt idylic horsehoe shaped bay with tropical rainforest cascading down to the white sand. Green parrots are often to be seen in the trees and Pelicans wheeling and diving. There is one small tin shack on the beach and this houses Iulia's where you can get a cold soft drink and a simple local lunch cooked on a primus. There is also a small selection of things to buy from carvings to sarongs. It is a magical spot.
Mount Irvine is known for its beaches, the well established Mount Irvine golf course and the large luxurious villas with views of both. Located on the Caribbean side of the island the beaches here are calmer than those on the Atlantic side. There are two great beaches here. Mount Irvine beach and Mount Irvine Hotel beach. Both have facilities bar, simple food and loos but the Mount Irvine beach is larger and busier. There is great snorkeling off the beach and unusually there is a reef to one side which creates excellent waves for surfing or body boarding and there are locals here who will hire you a board. The Mount Irvine hotel beach has a security guard on duty during the day and you can hire sun loungers from the bar area.
Tobago is a small and relatively unknown island. It is only 8 miles wide and 26 miles long but it takes a couple of hours to drive from one end to the other due to the rather windy road that travels South to North. There is no mass tourism here and hence not the development that tends to go with it. The most developed area of the island is in the South in the vicinity of the airport. Here you will find the lively beaches of Store Bay and Pigeon Point, hotels, bars and restaurants. The capital and port, Scarborough is also in the south of the island. It is a lively scene all in a rather laid back way! The north side of the island is the Caribbean side with calm seas. Here you will find the stunning bays and beaches of Stonehaven, Arnos Vale, Castara. Englishmens Bay and Pirates Bay. The other side of the island is the windward side and the Atlantic Ocean. Here the waves tend to be a bit bigger and you will find the equally stunning bays of Bacolet, King's Bay, Batteaux Bay and the lovely village of Speyside. At the very top or Northern point is the rather remote and charming village of Charlottesville. The Eastern side of the island is where the rainforest is located. The central main ridge rises steeply from the palm fringed beaches below. It is a hiking and bird watching untouched paradise. Then just off Speyside is the small uninhabited island of Little Tobago. Locals take visitors out to the island to hike up to the top for the views and to watch the wonderful bird life. Finally surrounding the whole island is the amazing underwater world. It is dotted with reefs offering fabulous diving and snorkelling oportunities.
