"Zazen Boutique Resort & Spa - Beautiful hotel, lovely beach, great service." - A.B. - Aug 2019

Zazen draws inspiration from the Japanese word meaning “to find inner peace,” and the resort in Samui is dedicated to guiding its guests on a journey of calm, pleasure and the satisfaction of reconnection to the self.

The hotel is entered through large wooden gates and over a foot bridge that winds through a lush garden accented with Buddhist ornaments and ornate sun umbrellas. The path leads into the main reception area from where you can look across the open air restaurant to the beach.

The hotel is brightly coloured walls, flowing curtains and hand-made lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

The Rooms
Distinctive and personal bungalows are located on the pristine beachfront and amongst verdant tropical gardens. There are three types of room available:

Four sought after Beachfront Villas face directly out onto the sea. They are the smallest of the rooms, but very romantic, with great views and a private veranda with hammock for each room.

In the main garden just behind the Beachfront Villas there are eleven Garden Deluxe Bungalows. They are slightly larger than the Beachfront Villas and perfect for couples or families, happily accommodating an extra bed if requested. They have semi-open air bathrooms and an individual veranda.

Finally in the second garden which is located further away from the beach at the back of the property are the Garden Villas. These are the most recent to have been built and so while the positioning is not quite as pleasing, the finish to the rooms is excellent and they are again much larger than the other categories of room. These villas have their own private lounge as well as a veranda and so can sleep as many as three adults and two children.

The Facilities
The hotel is directly located at the end of Bohput Beach, a white sandy beach with shallow water. Guests can also swim in the swimming pool with jacuzzi.

The beautiful inddor and outdoor spa offers a whole range of exquisite treatments. Guests are invited to unwind in the steam room or sauna and become infused with a new vitality. The trained therapists will tailor the treatments according to the questionnaires which are to be filled out by the guests prior to the treatments.

The restaurant at Zazen has a great reputation on the island and is popular with non-residents and expats. The main food concept is vegetarian and organic spa linked cuisine, making the most of fresh organic local produce.

The waterfront bar Rouge Lounge offers a wide selection of wines from the wine cellar and cocktails. The hotel is one of the few with its own wine cellar containing over 300 exquisite wines.

There are lots of options for guests if they want to get active. The hotel has a fitness centre, a beautiful peaceful yoga sala and sea kayaks and stand-up paddle boards as well as bicycles are free for guests to use.

Zazen occupies the last portion of beachfront to the west of Bohput Bay. Originally an old Chinese fishing village the area is still very peaceful with a nice handful of exciting restaurants, boutiques and beach bars. Due to its location at the end of the bay, the hotel surroundings are very quiet. If guests wish to have more entertainment, a 10 minutes walk along the beach brings them to the bars and restaurants of Bophut.

The hotel is located 20 minutes from the airport and Chaweng and 10 minutes to Bang Rak Pier and the Big Buddha.
