The Sandy Bay Bungalows resort occupies the entire southern beach front of Haad Yao and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens and palmtrees. This area has developed over the years in harmony with the tropical surroundings, retaining the natural beauty and its laid back atmosphere.

The old palm leave huts from around 10 years ago have since been replaced with new bungalows all outfitted to meet western standards.

The Rooms
There is a wide selection of traditional Thai style fan and air conditioned bungalows all with private bathrooms to choose from. Either set directly on the beach, only few meters away from the ocean or high up on stilts set in the small foothills overlooking Haad Yao beach, most of the bungalows provide panoramic ocean views. The bungalows simple yet functional and come with private balconies and bathrooms with shower. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, however the hotel restaurant serves a great variety of breakfast options at only little cost.

Haad Yao beach is famous for being a prime location for watching the glorious sunsets the island gets. It is a white sandy beach where a few lovely local restaurants and massage huts can be found as well.

The Facilities
The Sandy Bay Restaurant is well known to be one of the best in the area. It serves exquisite Thai and Western food at affordable prices. The Thai Beef Salad here was the best we have tried so far.

For guests looking for luxury, this might not be the right fit, but if you are searching for a relaxed beach holiday and a beach hotel with great value for money and fabulous local food, this may be the right fit for you.
