Golden Buddha Resort Koh Phra Thong - FKP001

Facing the Indian Ocean and set along a remote 12 kilometre beach, this very secretly hidden eco-retreat situated on a remote island in the Andaman Sea offers the opportunity to enjoy nature and the sea in a simple, authentic setting.

Golden Buddha Beach Resort is one of Asia’s finest eco-resorts. It benefits from a spectacular location on the western coast of Ko Phra Thong, one of Thailand's last unspoiled coastal areas. It is also the only resort on a pristine deserted 12 km long beach.

If you despair of the rampant developments found on better known Thai islands like Phuket, then Ko Phra Thong has to be the location for you. Away from the tourist crowds, this remote island remains barely inhabited and gloriously unspoiled.

The Rooms
Backing onto a pristine nature reserve, Golden Buddha Beach Resort is a collection of 28 individual and privately owned wooden homes, carefully maintained in a traditional style, and generously sprinkled along the shoreline. The resort is located on two seas, the sheltered bay and a beautiful and deserted 12 long kilometre beach, fringed by coconut plantations.

The wooden cottages, generously dotted across 19 hectares of forest, reward guests with an experience that is both unique and completely in touch with nature. They offer flexible and secluded accommodation to both couples and families, and provide the perfect foil to a stress-free vacation, far away from the troubles of the modern world. The houses (in Thai "Baan") are generously spread out along the main lane that divides the resort, running from the bay area to the clubhouse. Most are quite secluded with lush gardens cooling the buildings and providing ample privacy. They range from simple one-bedroom beachfront houses to luxury forest canopied lodges, with beautiful views of the Andaman Sea. All the houses are within 80 meters of the beach.

The Facilities
The heart of the resort is the clubhouse, where guests can dine, read, drink and relax . Its first floor is a dedicated lounging space, with its own bar, a pool table and plenty of comfortable sitting to while away the afternoon, enjoy the sunset or relax in the evening, whilst the dining room is located on the ground floor.

Located between the beach and the pond, there is a beach bar which is the perfect place to cool down and enjoy one of their home made pizzas, delicious salads and ice cream. The bar staff specialises in fresh fruit-based drinks which vary according to the seasons. They also offer a full range of local and international cocktails, beers and spirits, as well as a selection of quality wines.

The kitchen mainly serves seasonal local dishes, being focused on reducing their food-miles. The resort has its own citrus orchard at the back of the resort and they are experimenting with growing some herbs and vegetable to supply the kitchen. They breed their own chickens, ducks and pigs in order to supply the kitchen with eggs and meat.

The resort offers Yoga classes twice per day (chargeable). Yoga as practiced at the Golden Buddha Beach Resort is completely classical and traditional in form yet pragmatic and non dogmatic, influenced mostly by the ancient texts and teachings of Krishnamacharya, father of modern yoga. The morning class consists mostly of asana practice (yogic postures) which helps to increase flexibility and strength of the body. The afternoon class is a full session of pranayama (breathing exercises) which serves as a way to improve vitality.

The resort is open between November 1st and April 30th, which corresponds to the dry season in Southern Thailand.
