Accommodation is offered with a choice of 9 tents including one family tent. These canvas tents are spacious with an en suite bathroom and shower with flushing toilet. Facilities also include a writing desk as well as a private outside sitting area that is also under canvas and overlooks the bush with a chaise lounge for some extra comfort. There is also an ‘in room lockable box’ for valuables and the rooms are powered with solar and generators.
The main tent (or mess area) offers a lounge and sitting area as well as a dining tent which are both open to look out across the plains or bush, depending on the location of the camp at the time. Olakira offers a modern take on the vintage charm of an under canvas East African safari and you will be looked after by an enthusiastic team who will pamper you with fine dining (safari style) and fire-side stories.
From June to November the camp is nestled along the Mara River, in a pristine corner of the northern Serengeti in the quieter Bologoja region. Surrounded by pristine wilderness and only 300 meters from one of the crossing points used by the wildebeest herds. Whilst the crossings are one of the main attractions during this time of year, you can also expect to see other good game including many predators who follow these antelope.
From December through to March the wildebeest migrate south to the Ndutu area to the endless plains and fertile grazing to calf and rest. The Olakira Camp is set up in a shady forest inside the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area (NCCA).
Olakira Camp offers a great experience for those wanting to be in the thick of the wildebeest migration and enjoy an authentic East African safari with a touch of luxury.
