There is a total of 20 rooms, all en suite and with views over the farm plantations and the Ngorongoro Crater forests in the distance. The suites have a private balcony terrace with lounge furniture. The rooms all have in room safes as well as an internal telephone system plus room service. There are also two family suites that are interleading, ideal for families with children.

The main building is a large elegant thatched roof building with a lounge, restaurant and commanding deck with views across the valley. The dining area is divided into two areas.

The swimming pool is huge and also looks across the garden and into the valley.

Kitela Lodge offers the perfect base to explore the Ngorongoro Crater area. Spend a day with a packed picnic basket in the Crater – a great place to see the animals and you can expect some great game viewing of most of the species (except giraffe who are not able to ascend to the floor of the crater). For longer stays you can also take a day trip to Lake Eyasi and interact with the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. The area around Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadza and Watindiga bushmen, some of the last remaining hunter-gatherers on the continent. The bushman live in groups hunting with bow and arrows and gathering roots, tubers and wild fruits. The Datoga people are farmers and craftsmen growing their own food and the men create earings, jewellery and arrow heads.

Your stay at Kitela Lodge is usually part of a larger holiday of the Tanzanian northern safari circuit and we would recommend 2-3 nights here. Do chat to us about how to include a stay here into your African safari adventure.
