This remote village sits in the depths of the Wakhan Valley, hugged by craggy peaks and the surging Pyanj River. Take a short walk out of Langar and you’ll be treated to jaw-dropping canyon views. This intriguing landscape is full of hidden treasures, from historic archaeological ruins to petroglyphs (rock art carvings) – there are more than 6000 ancient petroglyphs on the slopes of Langar.

Staying at the guesthouse will give you the chance to discover the real Langar, meeting the local people of the village and learning more about their way of life. It’s what off-the-beaten-track travel is all about, and the family here will make you feel so welcome. They’ll be able to help with anything you need throughout your stay, and will invite you in after a long day’s hike for hearty servings of home-cooked food. Rooms are typically Tajik in design, with shared bathrooms outside and colourful fold-up mattresses inside, covered in blankets that you can snuggle under for a peaceful night’s sleep in the wilds of the Tajikistan countryside.
