The 'scenic' train is the best way to reach Demodera which is just a 10 minute stroll from Nine Skies. The perfect excuse to stretch your legs after your winding train journey through the picturesque hills, cloud forest, market gardens, tea estates, waterfalls and valleys. Don't worry as your driver will take your suitcases to the hotels.
Nine Skies takes its name from the nine-arched bridge, along the Demodera to Ella railway line. The bridge is known locally as “Ahas Navaya” (Nine Skies) so named for the nine skies one sees framed by the arches of the viaduct.
Rooms
The bungalow has five bedrooms only in order to maintain that sense of exclusivity. All the rooms open onto a garden terrace with striking views of the tea estate, valleys and winding hills and feature a bath tub for soaking in after scenic strolls or more adventurous hikes. There are 3 categories of rooms. The Ella Rock Suite is extremely spacious, with a private sitting room, King Size four-poster bed and direct access onto the garden. There are 3 Demodera Bedrooms with King Size four-poster beds and a Nine Skies Bedroom which has twin four-poster beds and interconnects with one of the Demodera Bedroom making it perfect for families.
Dining/All Inclusive
Rates are all inclusive, so expect to tuck into a hearty breakfast, a ‘Planter’s Lunch’ – a selection of daily curries – afternoon tea and later, an a la carte dinner. The atmospheric restaurant looks out onto that spectacular scenery and your 'butlers' are poised to pamper you in a home from home setting. Dining at the 'viewpoint' is a lovely experience.
Snacks and drinks, including your favourite alcoholic tipples, are best enjoyed on the covered terrace or in the cosy sitting room. These are also included in the daily rate.

There are a number of things you can see and do in the vicinity or slightly further afield; opt for a Sri Lankan Cooking Experience with the chef at Nine Skies, birdwatching, tea factory tours, scenic tea estate walks, visit Ella's hidden blue water cave or Nine Arches Bridge. Go zip-lining through the rainforest and over hills. Hike Little Adam's Peak or Ella Rock or relax at a private waterfall with picnic.
