"We had a really wonderful stay with George and his fabulous team at Kahanda Khanda over Christmas. We had never been before and the holiday was exactly what we were hoping for. Kahanda Kanda has been beautifully designed by George, and we loved how each room was individually decorated with beautiful paintings, warm throws, as well as wonderfully spacious outdoor shower-rooms which made it much more homely than many places we have stayed at before. I think we all want different things from a holiday.... my wish was to feel utterly relaxed and so I was really pleased that the rooms didn't have plasma TV's, coffee machines, etc. - that is not what KK is all about." "Everything about our visit was perfect from the warmth of the welcome to the striking architecture, charming staff, amazing food, comfortable rooms and surrounding landscapes. What sets this apart from everywhere I have ever stayed (I am 60 and have stayed in some of the world's most acclaimed hotels) is the attention to detail and generosity of the owner sharing his lovely possessions with his guests. Give me the the Wedgewood china in our bedroom, rather than a kettle and teabag, anyday! It is to George Cooper's credit that I arrived as a complete stranger and left as a firm friend. We will be back." RG 2012

"Wonderful, we loved the whole thing - the room, the surroundings, the service and the food. Our favourite and we have chosen the room we wish to stay on our next visit!" BM 2011

Yes it's not on the beach, but then neither is the true beauty of Sri Lanka or the true peace and tranquility that the island offers. The resident owner of Kahanda Kanda, George Cooper was so enamoured with the views from the site that he brought the 10 acres on the fourth day of his first ever trip to Sri Lanka, with absolutely no idea what he would do with the site.

It was not long though before his interior design training joined forces with a local architect to create Kahanda Kanda, instantly recognizable due to its single bold orange wall used to represent the robes of the Buddhist monks.

The main part of the hotel is made up of two large pavilions. One acting as a lounge area with cocktail bar, board games and small gift cabinet and the other is the dining pavilion. Both have stunning views across Koggala Lake as does the 21 meter long infinity pool and sun deck.

Accommodation is then arranged in a series of individual suites which are located throughout the hotel grounds:
