'Lovely. Large spacious room with a stunning view. Loved the communal atmosphere and all inclusive drinks. Food was great and Richard a very helpful host.' C. Reston - January 2014.

'Great with very nice food, good value for money.' B. Marshallsay

'What a stunning place with beautiful views. We loved it and went off on bikes exploring the area. Being so far out of the town (a positive for us) meant we chose to eat at the house which was very convenient.' M. Avis

The property is divided into two separate buildings - The Main House and The Valley House.

The Main House has a colonial-style veranda, a large sitting room furnished with antiques, a dining room which seats 12 and a study where you can watch international news via satellite TV. This part of the property can accommodate up to 8 guests in a double and two double/twin rooms each with an attached single bedroom and all 3 have en-suite bathrooms.

Then 30 yards across the garden, directly in front of the swimming pool, sits the Valley House. This part of the property has stunning views and three generous bedrooms, two doubles and a twin/double. The double bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with a bathtub and walk in shower while the twin/double has a shower. There is a communal library and large veranda but guests are also invited to use the sitting rooms in the house.

The swimming pool is a wonderful vantage point from which to gaze at the view 20 miles down the valley. The pool is fed from the bungalow's own borehole and uses very little in the way of chemicals which greatly enhances the pleasure of swimming.

Meals are taken in the dining pavilion which is behind the Valley House and next to the house, at times to suit you. A set 3 course menu is offered every evening with a choice of curry of non-curry main course. Drinks, including coffee, tea, soft drinks and local alcohol are provided throughout the day at no extra charge and imported wine is served with dinner. The water at Ellerton comes from the properties own borehole and is regularly tested and safe to drink but bottled water is also provided in two guest refrigerators in both houses.

There is plenty to do at Ellerton, including a wide variety of walks and cycle paths. The bungalow has six new mountain bicycles, which you can borrow at no charge and the staff can advise you on routes and give you directions. You are also within an easy drive of The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kandy, The Temple of the Tooth and Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. You can also take the train from Gampola up into the tea plantations and for a longer day excursion drive to Kitugala for white water rafting.
